Dr. Deepak Agrawal, The INDUSEM Director for the Entrepreneurship, Management & Technology Enhancement Center for Health (INDUSEM-EMTECH) won the prestigious “Dynamic CIO of the Year 2016′ Award at the 5th Annual Healthcare Summit in Delhi.
The award recognizes the efforts of Dr. Deepak Agrawal as AIIMS, New Delhi- Chairman of Computerization (Chief Informatics Officer) to lead the transformation AIIMS to become a Paper Less Hospital by using Electronic Health Record Systems.
Dr. Deepak Agrawal is a Neurosurgeon by training. He is the Professor of Neurosurgery at AIIMS.
In the last decade Professor Agrawal has worked tirelessly to bring about rapid changes which have led to AIIMS being the first institute in the country to be marching towards total freedom from paper when it comes to health records of patient care provided at a hospital.
In addition to this award The Electronic Health Records System at AIIMS has won many awards.
- Awarded the best project in its category in Healthcare Leaders Forum and Awards for ‘Patient display system’?by ELETS at Hotel Royal Plaza, New Delhi on 12 March 2015Golden Peacock award Golden Peacock Innovative Product / Service Award – 2014.
- Awarded the best IT project in healthcare2014 by eIndia at The LeelaKovalam, Trivandrum on 15th November 2014.
- eIndia award for ‘Most Innovative Healthcare Implementation’ ?for the year 2013 held in Hyderabad on 29 th July 2013
- Best Poster award for ‘Online health portal in Improving Neurosurgical care’ at the Annual conference of NSI in Bangalore from 1618 Dec 2011
- Best Jury Award for online healthcare provider for developing ‘Integrated online portal for AIIMS Trauma Centre’ at the eHealth world awards 2011 held on August 2, 2011at New Delhi .
- mbillionth 2011 award?for mhealth category for project mPAIN (mobile patient admission information network) in July 2011 in New Delhi, India.
- Best IT implementation of the year 2011 by PCQuest for online portal for JPN Apex Trauma Centre, AIIMS in May 2011 by PCQuest IT magazine.

- mbillionth 2010 award?for mhealth category for mBillionth Congress & Award Gala scheduled on July 23 rd 2010 in New Delhi, India.
“The Vista EHR at AIIMS in its present version is a modified version of the Government of USA Open Source EHR called as CPRS-VISTA. CPRS-VISTA is widely used across Federal VA Hospitals in the United States. What Deepak has done is marvelous and signifies hard core dedication to the cause that HER Incorporation improves patient care because of improved documentation, patient safety and accountability. Deepak Heads the Technology Enhancement Center at INDUSEM and what he has done with The EHR System at AIIMS is a classic example of Progressive INDO-US Technology Corridor.
