Naman’s EM-Sim with TempusPretioso

Emergency Medicine Association leader Dr.Naman Agrawal from AIIMS Emergency Medicine conducted the Inaugural Simulation Skills School (EM-SIM) for undergraduate medical students at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal University on 26th March, 2017. This school was held in partnership with TempusPretioso ~The Emergency Medicine Club of KMC, Manipal University.

The workshop was held at The Clinical Simulation Lab, Health Science Library at Manipal University Campus.Held in Multiple sessions, it was a highly interactive activity focussed on ‘Concepts and Approaches in Emergency Patient Care’.

More than 100 undergraduates participated in the event and the registrations were full within few hours of announcement. Professor Jayaraj MB Chairman of Emergency Medicine and Director of EM Critical Care at KMC Manipal University & Dr Anita Shenoy from Anaesthesiology were the faculty mentors for this skills school.

The delegates were divided into groups with an intern as their leader to solve various cases with mock patients. Everybody felt the adrenaline rush, even though it was a fictional contract, as the organizing team enacted the cases exceptionally well.

Dr. Naman educated the budding clinicians to focus on ‘Patient safety’ and also stressed upon the ABCD: Airway, Breathing, Circulation and Deformity approach to every case in the emergency department. The students were taught indispensable lifesaving procedures to be done during emergency care. High Fidelity Simulators were used andthe participants expressed the desire to attend more of such practical hands-on workshops.
