INDUSEM Leader Dr. Neha Rai launched her Paediatric Trauma Resuscitation Manual (PTRM) for Primary Care Providers. It is published by Springer Nature.
Authored and edited by Dr. Neha Thakur Rai, Professor of Paediatrics at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS), Lucknow, and Council Member of the Emergency Medicine Association (EMA) and the Academic College of Emergency Experts in India (ACEE), this manual bridges a critical gap between high-tech tertiary trauma centres and the frontline primary care providers (PCPs) who serve as the first point of contact for injured children.
Bridging the “Golden Hour” Gap
While advanced trauma centres are equipped with the latest technology, most children in resource-limited settings are first seen by Medical Officers, Nurses, and EMTs at the grassroots level. The PTRM translates complex, evidence-based global protocols into practical, step-by-step algorithms, focusing on the ABCDE approach.
“The first point of contact is the most critical. By empowering our primary care teams with standardised stabilisation protocols, we can significantly improve survival rates during the ‘Golden Hour’ of pediatric trauma.” – Dr. Neha Thakur Rai
A Milestone for Global Healthcare
- Global Standards: Published by Springer Nature, the manual combines international academic rigour with specific insights into the epidemiology of pediatric injuries in South and South-East Asia.
- Collaborative Innovation: Developed under the mentorship of INDUSEM CEO Dr. Sagar Galwankar, the manual is a product of “Collaborative Creativity,” integrating simulation and sonography for higher learnability.
