WECAN 2025 | National Strategic Framework & Action Plan Meeting for Integrated Emergency & Trauma Care (2025–2035) was Hosted by Dept. of Emergency Medicine, KMC Mangalore with WHO Collaborating Centre Emergency and Trauma Care South-East Asia Region–AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi), The World Academic Council for Emergency Medicine & Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India.

The two-day consultation (29–30 Oct) was organized at the Dr. T. M. A. Pai International Convention Centre, Mangaluru as a part of the 11th World Academic Congress of Emergency Medicine which was held from 29th October to 2nd November 2025.

This meeting launched a decade-long roadmap to strengthen Emergency, Critical & Operative (ECO) Care Systems across India—aligned with National Health Policy and the WHO Global Action Plan.

Thematic tracks on Human Resources, Materials–Finance, Workforce capability, Research–Innovation–Data, Leadership & Governance, co-chaired by Maj Gen (Prof) Atul Kotwal, SM, VSM & Dr. Patanjali Dev Nayar, with day-2 focus on care delivery (Community Access, Pre-hospital, Quality, Data & Documentation).

The Main Outcome was creating Actionable frameworks for India’s Decade of Action (2025–2035)—“Saving Billions through Strong Acute Care Systems.”
