In light of the ongoing pandemic, conducting the annual conferences on Pediatric Emergency Medicine in a conventional way was neither safe nor feasible.  The 7th Emergency Medicine Pediatric Advances and Recent Trends (e-EMPART 2020) and 3rd Emergency Pediatrics and Emergency Congress (e-EPICON 2020) were successfully conducted virtually on 22nd December 2020, 29th December 2020, 3rd December 2020 and 13th December 2020. The event had eminent international faculty and national faculty from various MCI recognized medical institutes, who have been the pioneers in their fields. Delegates from all over the country and abroad included post graduate trainees, fellows, senior residents, practitioners and faculty from specialties of pediatrics and emergency medicine attended this academic feast. The event also marked the beginning of first DM course in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at AIIMS, Raipur with continued support of INDUSEM.

The three days of e-EMPART had five hours each of rigorous updates covering a majority of Pediatric emergency topics. Dr Prerna Batra from India and Dr Shobhit Jain from the USA were the conference co-directors and DrMidhun Mohan from India was the organizing secretary.  The event started on 22nd December with inaugural address by Dr Piyush Gupta, President, Indian academy of Pediatrics (2021-2022) who spoke on ‘Pediatric Emergency Medicine in India-Need of the hour’ and highlighted the importance of starting IAP-Peds EM chapter. We obtained valuable feedback from the delegates, who were highly appreciative of the quality of the talks.

e-EPICON held on 13th December 2020 focused on ‘Point of Care Ultrasound Workshop-POCUS’ over an interactive five hours period under the leadership of Dr. Sanjeev Bhoi, Dr. Tej Sinha and his team. The conference emphasized ‘ABCD of ultrasound’ in pediatric emergency along with its incorporation in PALS. The workshop was much appreciated by the delegates.

Notwithstanding the limitations of a virtual platform for a large conference, this event was high quality, interactive and educational. This epitomized the perseverance of the faculty and delegates to develop pediatric emergency medicine in India.
