EMA Tamil Nadu partnered with The Department of Emergency Medicine, Trichy SRM Medical College Hospital & Research Centre (TSRMMCH&RC), and successfully organized a two-day national-level Emergency Medicine Postgraduate Induction Programme on April 3rd and 4th, 2026, at the B.C. Roy Hall, SRM hospital, Trichy, Tamil Nadu, BHARAT.
With the central theme “Think Fast. Work Safe. Lead Calm.”, the programme was conceptualized to provide a structured and comprehensive orientation for first-year postgraduate residents entering the demanding and dynamic specialty of Emergency Medicine. The initiative aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical medical education and real-time emergency care by emphasizing rapid clinical assessment, procedural competence, teamwork, and communication skills. The programme brought together expert faculty and enthusiastic participants from across the country, making it a vibrant academic platform for postgraduates.

The induction programme was designed as a blended academic experience, integrating: Didactic lectures Hands-on skill stations, Case-based simulations, Interactive discussions, Panel sessions, and role plays. The curriculum was structured into two focused days addressing core competencies required in Emergency Medicine training.
Participants were introduced to: Emergency Department mindset and rapid approach (ABC approach), Clinical evaluation of critically ill patients, Cardiovascular, respiratory, and central nervous system examination, Approach to chest pain, breathlessness, and abdominal pain, Trauma and local examination techniques.
These sessions provided practical exposure and supervised learning, enabling participants to refine essential emergency procedures.
A Dedicated Thesis and Dissertation Discussion session guided postgraduate students on: Research planning, Topic selection, Academic writing and presentation.
Live demonstrations on mannequins included: Airway management Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS), Intercostal drainage (ICD), Central venous access. These sessions bridged the gap between theory and advanced clinical practice.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from postgraduate residents across India making it the largest Inaugural Emergency Post Graduate Induction Program conducted in India.
Participants appreciated the Structured and well-organized sessions, & Emphasis on practical, skill-based learning Interactive and simulation-driven approach Relevant to real-world emergency scenarios.
The programme fostered collaboration, networking, and peer learning, contributing to the professional growth of young emergency physicians.
The programme concluded with a valedictory ceremony, feedback session, and distribution of certificates. Participants expressed high satisfaction with the academic content, organization, and overall learning experience.
