KMC Manipal, MAHE celebrates 15th EM BHARAT DIVAS

The occasion of National EM Day- ‘15th EM BHARAT DIVAS ’ in India was celebrated in Manipal by the student enthusiast club for Emergency Medicine in Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, MAHE—TEMPUS PRETIOSO. Two back-to-back events were conducted in collaboration with the KMC Student Council. The first event, titled “Save a Live”, was a Basic Life Support workshop held for over 100 participants from Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MCOPS), Manipal. It was conducted on the MCOPS campus by the TEMPUS PRETIOSO team, under the guidance of staff advisor Dr. Vimal Krishnan S, from the Department of Emergency Medicine, KMC Manipal.

This was followed by ‘Emergency Medicine Essentials’, an interactive lecture series on career options in Emergency Medicine and working with humanitarian agencies including the MSF. Dr Vimal Krishnan S, kicked off proceedings with the seminal ‘EM as a career in India’ session from Manipal and passed the baton to Dr Murtuza Ghiya from the UK for an exhilarating session on ‘An Indian Emergency physicians’ stint with the MSF’. The last session was ‘An overview of the humanitarian multiverse and career options for the young doctor’ by Dr Gautam Harigovind. This was the final standalone event for the current leadership of TEMPUS PRETIOSO and both events were huge successes with rave reviews.

About Tempus Pretioso

Tempus Pretioso is KMC’s, and probably India’s, first undergraduate medical student Enthusiast Club dedicated exclusively to Emergency Medicine. Started in 2016, the club works in close association with the Department of Emergency Medicine, KMC Manipal and is also patronized by Emergency Medicine Association, India and INDUSEM. The major activities of the club include organizing academic programs, volunteering, operating at the national level for spreading awareness regarding the need for orientation towards emergency medical education and skill acquisition.
