TOXIQ 2026, a two-day national conference on Clinical Toxicology, was successfully organized by IQRAA International Hospital & Research Centre, Kozhikode, in association with the Emergency Medicine Association (EMA) on 1–2 August 2026. The conference witnessed the participation of over 400 delegates from across India, including emergency physicians, intensivists, pediatricians, clinical pharmacists, nurses, researchers, and postgraduate trainees, making it one of the largest multidisciplinary toxicology meetings in the region.
The conference was inaugurated by Shri T. Siddique, Hon’ble Minister for Agriculture, Government of Kerala, who highlighted the growing importance of strengthening poisoning management services and promoting collaborative initiatives in clinical toxicology.
One of the landmark events of TOXIQ 2026 was the inauguration of the Poison Information Centre at IQRAA International Hospital. The centre has been established to provide timely, evidence-based poison information and expert consultation to healthcare professionals, while promoting toxicovigilance, education, and research in toxicology.
During the inaugural ceremony, IQRAA also unveiled its vision of developing a Centre of Excellence in Clinical Toxicology. The proposed centre will integrate the Poison Information Centre, a dedicated Clinical Toxicology Unit, and a state-of-the-art Analytical Toxicology Laboratory, creating a comprehensive ecosystem for patient care, toxicology diagnostics, education, research, and poison surveillance. This initiative is expected to significantly strengthen toxicology services in the region and serve as a referral and academic hub for South India.
The scientific program featured distinguished national faculty delivering evidence-based lectures, panel discussions, debates, workshops, and case-based sessions on a broad spectrum of topics, including acute poisoning, snakebite envenomation, pesticide poisoning, toxic alcohols, drug overdose, pediatric toxicology, extracorporeal therapies, poison information services, toxicovigilance, and medico-legal aspects of clinical toxicology.
The conference also hosted oral paper presentations, e-poster sessions, and the ToxIQUEST National Toxicology Quiz, providing an excellent platform for young clinicians and researchers to showcase their academic work.
TOXIQ 2026 concluded with a renewed commitment to advancing clinical toxicology through multidisciplinary collaboration, education, research, and innovation. The conference not only strengthened academic partnerships but also marked an important milestone in IQRAA’s journey towards establishing a comprehensive Centre of Excellence in Clinical Toxicology, reinforcing its commitment to improving poisoning care and toxicology services in India.
