The Annual Department level Conference of the department of Emergency Medicine at Government Medical College, Kozhikode was held on 5th and 6th May 2023 in collaboration with the Department of Emergency Medicine, JMMC & RI.

The Southern INDIA training hub of the WACEM-International Network for Critical Ultrasound (INCUS) conducted the EM Sonography Workshop at this meeting.

INCUS is spearheaded by Dr. Sanjeev Bhoi (Professor, Director, WHO Collaborating Centre for Emergency and Trauma Care – SEAR) and Dr. Tej Prakash Sinha (Additional Professor) from the Department of Emergency Medicine, JPN Apex Trauma Centre, AIIMS New Delhi.

The course director for the event was Dr. Siju V Abraham (JMMC & RI), ably supported by the sono-educators Dr. Vimal Krishnan S (KMC, Manipal), Dr. Manu Ayyan (JIPMER), Dr. Ajay A (AIIMS Nagpur), Dr. P C Rajeev and Dr. Vijay Chanchal A B (JMMC & RI).

The workshop comprised of interactive lectures and hands-on sessions. Delegates got ample time to acquire sonography skills, clear and rectify their doubts. At the end of the session, delegates were tested on sono skills with structured skill performance evaluation forms.

The course concluded with closing remarks by the course director, Dr. Siju, where he expressed his gratitude to the delegates for their active participation and dedication throughout the program. Certificates of completion were distributed to all the participants, acknowledging their successful completion of the EM Sono ultrasound course.

At the end of the course, all participants were given post-course confidence and knowledge assessment forms along with feedback forms. The feedback received was overwhelmingly positive, with the majority expressing high satisfaction with the course content, faculty expertise, and hands-on training sessions. Participants particularly appreciated the interactive nature of the course, which facilitated a deeper understanding of point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) principles and applications.
