The 10th  Emergency Medicine Pediatric Advances and Recent Trends (EMPART 2024) Board Review course in Emergency Pediatrics was held simultaneously with “EM36” The State Level Academic Conference of The Emergency Medicine Association of Chhattisgarh on 19th, 20th and 21st April 2024 at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Raipur.

INDUSEM, Academic College of Emergency Experts (ACEE) in India and The Emergency Medicine Association, Chhattisgarh (EMA) were the partners of this Important Meeting spearheaded by the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, AIIMS Raipur, under the leadership of INDUSEM Award Winning Leader Prof. (Dr.) Anil K Goel.

The mega event was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Director-cum-CEO of AIIMS Raipur, Lt. Gen Dr. Ashok Jindal (Retd), PVSM, AVSM, YSM, ND, DIH, PhD on 21st April 2024.The inaugural ceremony was also presided by other chief guests Dr. Alok C Agrawal, Dean (Academics) & Dr. Renu Rajguru, Officiating MS, AIIMS Raipur.

Pediatric Emergency Medicine is a new & evolving super-specialty branch providing, the first point of contact care for sick children, and the quality of education and training in this expeditiously evolving field with unique challenges, can make miraculous differences in the outcome of the First Golden Hour management which decides life and death. This was the 3rd National Conference of Pediatric Emergency Medicine, organized by the Department of Pediatrics, AIIMS Raipur (after the PEMCON 2018 and NAPEM 2022).

EMPART2024 & EMA36 comprised of 3 days of Academic Feast consisting of interactive lectures, MEGACODE – practical scenarios based focused group discussions, Research Paper, Oral & Poster presentations, Case based practical sessions and hands on training on Point Of Care Ultrasonography (POCUS).

The topics ranged from basic concepts of core Pediatric Emergency Medicine to contemporary advances in this ever changing field, taken by various renowned National and International Expert Faculty in the field. The pre-conference workshop on POCUS was conducted on 19th April 2024, under the guidance of esteemed faculty, Dr. Sanjeev Bhoi, Director- WHO Collaborating Centre for Emergency and Trauma Care, South- East Asian Region. Over 60 Delegates included two from overseas, attended EMPART 24 along with a galaxy of nearly 40 National and International experts. The august International line up of speakers included Dr. Prashant Mahajan, Dr. Ameer Hassoun & Dr. Shobhit Jain from USA including many academicians from across India, including Dr. Anil K Goel, Dr. Prerna Batra, Dr. Abhijeet Saha, & Dr. Vikram Bhaskar, to name a few & many more. The conference was also credited for CME points by the Chhattisgarh Medical Council.

The credit for the Development of Pediatric Emergency Medicine as a super specialty branch in India, is attributed to the tireless efforts of the INDUSEM Leaders and The Fellows of The Academic College of Emergency Experts of India.

The Leadership of Prof. AK Goel is historic, especially by being the pioneer in the country to start DM programme in Pediatric Emergency Medicine in AIIMS Raipur, for Post graduates in Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine.

EMPART 24 & EMA36 Conference enabled the delegates to explore this newly evolving branch of Pediatric Emergency Medicine, its relevance and scope in day to day practices and enlightened them to various issues they face as first point of contact to sick children in OPDs and Emergency/ clinic set ups.

The delegates were enthusiastic and participated actively in the conference, poster/ oral paper presentations and the various interactive sessions.

The MEGACODE session, was co- chaired by Dr. Krishnadutt Chavali, Professor  & Head, Forensic Medicine & Toxicology AIIMS Raipur and Dr. Vikram Bhaskar, Associate Professor, Pediatrics, UCMS Delhi, involving various medico-legal aspects one has to encounter in their day to day emergency practice was a real eye opener for all the delegates.

The Conference was indeed a real Academic Fiesta and sensitized the delegates to the core topics covered. The Conference ended on a pleasant note with Dr. Anil K Goel delivering the vote of Thanks to the Delegates, Faculty and Organizing Team alike, hoping to have more similar and productive Conferences from the Institution.
